notes from draft:

pick 1 - ugh what a pack. obv tromp, angel, and disintegrate. can't deny disintegrate despite tromp being an absolute beating.

pick 2 - purple gone. between tendrils, axe, and isolation. staying on color to cut red for pack 2 even though tendrils is really strong. axe's cc flexibility is really nice though.

pick 3 - castle raptors is the strongest card, but there are also two good green cards. i passed angel and can't expect pack 2 white. not looking to take double greens at this point. mindstab.

pick 4 - ugh, skimmer, shaman, stalker or sliver. shaman again is double green. haven't seen much blue and going white could be really bad. staying the course and going with skimmer.

pick 5 - slight signals for blue and white here. totem wins over sliver.

pick 6 - search indicates green is wide open, but haven't seen much great stuff otherwise. white could be open too. staying on color with corpse.

pick 7 - white is definitely open, but i think it's a little too late. red looks cut and my black cards are fairly so-so. :(

pick 8 - dryad is the obvious pick here, but i don't feel it would be wise to switch. feebleness and askari seem really close to me, but gotta go with removal.

picks 9-10 - yeah, green and white...

pick 16 - starting pack 2. not really sure where we should be; temporal went way too late, so did a ton of green, but did i wait too long? the option here is move into green or take the trapper. trapper's definitely respectable.

pick 18 - deadeye is expensive, but you can't beat card advantage.

pick 31 - pack 3 and we're looking pretty bad. don't have near enough removal for my deck at this point. pact is an awesome trick and is pseudo removal.

pick 33 - late ichor slicks helps a ton. two more of either ichor slick or death rattle would be awesome.

pick 35 - ok, another ichor slick. now a rattle?

pick 38 - henchfiend is really tempting, but i'm heavy on 4s. another augur.

picks 39-40 - so happy, these really helped my curve.

i was fairly worried most of this draft. first couple of picks went ok, but it seemed like i should have jumped to white or green many, many times. even jumping into blue probably would've been ok in retrospect. i ended up winning this draft, but winning doesn't necessarily mean picks were correct. having a manascrewed opponent in the finals didn't hurt, either.
